TransINCA Expedition
Budget personnel finally ready after a long preparation.. |
After a several weeks of logistic coordination with a Russian Travel Agency, the mechanical team had everything ready for the TransINCA Expedition. The starting date was set for October 16th, and all the tasks where completed before the deadline. It was a big commitment for Budget Car Rental Peru: we had to deliver eight 4x4 SUV’s for a round trip that will cover the southern territory of Peru, and the northern areas of Bolivia and Chile; however a fast paced supporting team had everything on the tracks.
The first destination was the region of Ica; where the Russian tourist group had the opportunity to appreciate how what seems as just an arid shore, is actually the home for a huge diversity of animals, as is the “Reserva Nacional de Paracas”. Through the Ocucaje desert the group arrived at Nazca, where they observed, not without astonishment, those lines that still today enclose a mystery to be revealed.
Moving away from the coast, the next visiting point was Abancay, whose’ deep and stretched valleys and its colonial city, serve as a perfect prelude of what is to come. Cuzco and its gloriousness embraces them offering an amazing legacy of tradition, landscapes, temples and great ruins that undoubtedly turn this city into one of the most unique tourist places of the world. This is the reason why being chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World fits perfectly well for Machu Picchu.
The journey continued through Arequipa, and the first stop was the Canyon and Valley of Colca, where the condor rules the skies. From there, it surely was not a straight route to the next dazzling point, the Lake Titicaca, not at all; this part of the trip couldn’t be complete if they didn’t take a break to admire the beautiful landscapes of Juliaca and Puno.

The Lake Titicaca was the place where all our preparations were tested. Our friends couldn’t resist for a trip through the lake’s islands, each of them with its own particularities, so they decided to spend a night at Suasi Island. Therefore our new task was to continue with the 4x4 SUV’s and wait for them at the other side of the lake. As simple as it sounds, this was a total challenge for the Budget team; because it was necessary to take our SUV’s all the way to Desaguadero to accomplish the legal permissions with Bolivia’s Costumes Office in order to enter and leave their territory, then continue the trip through the oriental shore of the Titicaca, enter again Peru and arrive to the lake port of Moho before our friends arrive. It was a race against time; however, everything went as planned. The Russian expedition said goodbye to Suasi and were welcomed with all the 4x4 SUV's ready at Moho. With all the logistic perfectly executed, the expedition leaved Peru, passing through Conima and Tilali to finally reach the borderline town of Anco Anco without any trouble.

Nature’s fancy at its best: the salt marsh of Uyuni with simple but surreal landscapes (Picture: Viceministerio de Turismo de Bolivia). |
Now was the time for Bolivia and its landscapes to astonish our friends. All the towns that lie around the Lake Titicaca like Puerto Acosta, Escoma, Puerto Carabuco, Ancoraimes, Achacachi and Huarina did a great impression and so it did La Paz. Then, they went to the National Park of Sajama, one of the most important in Bolivia to finally arrive to the salt marsh of Uyuni, which with its 10,500 km2 is the biggest white desert of the world: an oneiric landscape scattered with rock formations, volcanoes, geysers and coloured small lakes (White, Green and Red).

The pace of the expedition continued without interruptions, as all the arrangements with the Customs Departments were made in time.

The trip set course to Chile, and San Pedro de Atacama, was the town that received the expedition. Again, all the coordination made by Budget Peru with Chilean Customs Department, were made without a hassle, so the trip continued with all its matchless experiences. They departed from the so-called "Chilean Archaeological Capital" to Calama, and passing through Pozo Almonte and Cuya, they finally arrived to the historical city of Arica. Our Russian friends came back to Peru through Tacna and after crossing Moquegua, the convoy made a last stare at Arequipa and Ica, ending their journey at Lima.
The 15 days the expedition last, were the culmination of a very exhaustive effort to prepare the eight 4x4 SUV'ss to achieve an optimum performance, and a perfect coordination with the diverse Customs Departments to avoid any problem. As result, a wonderful experience for all our guests and a absolute approval by the Russian delegation in recognition to the extraordinary performance accomplished by Budget Car Rental Peru.
